2016 / 2017 School Year Dance Policies
Registration / Tuition
A registration fee of $25 per family is due at the time of registration along with the first month of tuition. The registration fee holds your place in the class and is non-refundable.
Dance Tuition for the School Year is divided into 10 monthly installments from September through June for your convenience. Tuition is payable on the 1st of each month in advance via automated credit card or debit card. The monthly installment amount does not vary based on the number of classes in any given month. Families preferring to pay by cash or check may do so in advance of the first of the month. Returned checks will be charged a $25 fee.
If you miss a class due to illness or family emergency you may call or email the studio to set up a time to make-up in another similar class if one exists. Please notify the studio as soon as possible if you are going to miss a class. This opens up make-up spaces for other students and ensures the availability of a make-up class for you. Please note that attendance is important to the learning process and you are expected to be in your assigned class each week unless an unavoidable problem arises. Excessive absenteeism may result in your inability to participate in upcoming performances and will inhibit your advancement to the next class level.
Dance Recital, Photo and Costume Fees
A costume fee of $90 per class for the year-end dance showcase will be charged to your account in November. No costume fees will be refunded after this date even if a student withdraws from the class as costumes are made to order and cannot be returned to the vendor. If you are not planning to participate in the recital, you must notify the office prior to this date to avoid incurring this charge. A recital fee of $80 per family will be charged to your account on April 1, 2016 to help cover recital expenses. Each participating family will receive four free tickets to the recital and one free recital DVD of each show they are in. Additional tickets are $10.00 each prior to dress rehearsal, $12.00 at dress rehearsal and $15.00 the day of recital. Additional videos are $20 each. A Photo Fee of $30 per student will be charged to your account on March 1, 2015. Each family will receive high-res digital files of all groups in which their dancer performs along with their choice of two individual photos of their dancer. Families may opt out of photos by giving notice in writing to the front desk prior to March 1, 2015. Additional photos and prints may be ordered online through our studio Shutterfly account.
Cancellations and Refunds
There is a two-month minimum for all dance classes. One-month notice from the first of the month is required to discontinue any class. Notice of withdrawal for the months of November through May must be received within the first 7 days of the prior month. Withdrawals cannot be accepted for the month of June. Withdrawals must be done through the front desk and not with the teacher. To withdraw a student from classes a parent or an adult student must inform the desk and complete and sign a withdrawal form available at the front office. HeartBeats Music & Dance reserves the right to terminate lessons for any students for any reason without notice. In such a case any pre-paid lessons will be refunded on a pro-rata basis. Once choreography for the spring recital has begun in January, students are strongly discouraged from withdrawing except under extraordinary circumstances (such as injury or moving from the area). This request is due to the negative impact such late withdrawals can have on the class and instructor.
It is the responsibility of the parent or adult student to be aware of all school activities such as viewing days, recitals, extra classes, and dates the school is open and closed. The school will post notices primarily via email. It is the parent's responsibility to regularly check to ensure they are informed. It is also the responsibility of the parent or adult student to inform the school of any address, phone or email changes. HeartBeats is a technology-based studio and our primary method of communication is via email for notices and receipts. It is the responsibility of each family to ensure that they are receiving and reading studio emails.
Care of Students
The school cannot provide before or after class care for students. Parents with students under the age of 5 are asked to remain close to the school during classes. Students are not to be left at the school for excessive time before or after lessons. Please provide a cell phone number in case of emergencies.
Dance is a physically challenging activity. While all due care is taken to provide proper warm-ups and instruction, parents, legal guardians of minor students and adult students waive the right to any legal action for any injury sustained on school property resulting from normal lesson activity or other activity conducted by the students before, during or after lesson time.
Photo and Video Release
HeartBeats is hereby granted permission to take photographs and videos of students for use on its web sites and printed promotional materials. Permission is also hereby granted for the school to copyright such photographs and videos in its name.
Required dancewear and dance shoes must be worn to all classes. Failure to wear required dancewear to class could result in students being asked to sit out the class. Repeated failure to wear required dancewear could result in termination of lessons. Students are not permitted to wear jeans or street shoes in class.
